The second part in the Doctor Strange franchise also surpassed recent major studio projects in terms of global box-office gross, including "No Time to Die" and "The Batman." On May 22, The Hollywood Reporter reported the long-awaited sequel collected upwards of $800 million at the global box office, coming in as the second-highest-earning pandemic-era Hollywood movie, behind only "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($1.89 billion). Walt Disney and Marvel's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," as the name suggests, further leaps into the multiverse the MCU has been developing in its latest slate of titles, starting with the hit Disney+ series "WandaVision." Released worldwide on May 6, the sequel to 2016's "Doctor Strange" has only had a theatrical premiere, in which it managed to set all sorts of box-office records.
